Recap of Days 16 - 30

So whattaya think? I'm liking 25 and 28 best--I really wish my maxi dress would stop stretching out! 

Some final thoughts:

• I'm excited to get back to the rest of my closet, but I'm actually kind of feeling overwhelmed by the idea, too.  Maybe I should appease my husband and do the 30 for 30 every month...maybe not.
• It was a bummer that I lost two of my items along the way, but at least it happened near the end.
• Having a vacation in the middle made it a lot easier, I think.  That was one week I didn't have to think of new work outfits.
• Those capris are from now on going to be saved for scrubby, lazy days.  Looking at these pictures, they're not that cute on.
• I need to start wearing heels so my work pants stop dragging on the floor.
• I do believe I will be tying shirts more often this summer.  Who knew?
• My daughter's cute.

Day 30 of 30: I'm Done, I'm Done, I'm Done!

This was my one last ditch effort at inspiration because I didn't feel like wearing a dress, and most of my shirts were in the wash, and it actually worked. I feel like this is the perfect culmination outfit--I remixed a dress into a shirt and mixed black with brown. Bending all sorts of traditional fashion rules over here.

For the rest of you still remixing, keep up the good work, ladies! You're almost there!

Day 29 of 30: Watching Moms Be Moms

I'm actually glad it was a cooler day today because I'm definitely over most of my 30 for 30 items, and I think I'm even missing a couple things. I know at least one of my shirts (which is actually my husband's) is back in Maine.  Oh well, one more day!

This was one of the first outfits that popped into my head when I picked out my 30 items, but I didn't get a chance to wear it until now.  I was going for a Coco Chanel inspired look.

As I type this, I'm watching a show called Dance Moms. It's pretty much Toddlers in Tiaras but the girls are five years older. So far, the coach is the crazy pushy one, and the moms are off drinking wine, haha.

Speaking of moms, we visited our friends' (who actually were the ones that set us up) new house and new baby tonight. Their house is gorgeous, and of course, their baby boy is adorable. It definitely reminded me that I'm not ready for a second baby quite yet, though.

Day 28 of 30: Retail Therapy

The last time I remember tying my shirt like this was 7th grade, and I only remember because there's photographic evidence of my 13th birthday party.  Which was an awesome one, by the way.  My mom surprised my friends and me with a limo picking us up from school and bringing us to dinner at Organ Piper Pizza. 

I actually really dig the tied shirt look--it does the job of a belt, which I also tried this morning, and defines a waist.  The knot kept coming untied, though, so I ended up double knotting it after work--I didn't think it looked as good that way, but whatevs.

Besides liking my outfit in general, I've had a bit of a day--one that ultimately ended in retail therapy...and wine.  I've really broken the shopping ban now.  New York & Company sales always get me!  All of their summer stuff was on sale for like $10 or less!  Admittedly, I am having a leeettle bit of buyer's remorse about some of the stuff; who knows, maybe I'll have to return half of it once it comes in the mail.

Here's my haul in case you want to shake your finger at me and say "tsk, tsk": blazer, plaid bermuda shorts, dress pants, pink floral skirt, pink drapey cardigan (by the way, is that Bianca from ANTM modeling the green cardi?), green belt, pencil skirt (I know it's metallic, but I don't own any pencil skirts), green floral shorts, cropped khakis (for camping next weekend?), skinny cropped jeans.  Yeah, excessive, I know.  But, but $8!

They should sponsor my blog.  Eh?  Eh?  Heh...

Day 27 of 30: Oh Hey Pink Wall

On the way to the dentist, I found this awesome pink wall on the top floor of the mall parking garage.  The dentist appointment went fine (no cavities!), but I didn't realize until after I went into a store that the hygienist left dried orange toothpaste on my face.  Thaaaaanks, lady.  It looked like I had just finished messily eating Pop Rocks or something.

As far as the outfit goes, I have a confession: these sandals are not 30 for 30 approved.  I couldn't find my black peep toe shoes this morning, and none of the other shoe choices I had looked decent.  Sooo I'm a cheater.  

Day 26 of 30: There's No Place Like Home

We're home!  Bridget was sooo happy to be out of the car finally.  We made really good time, though.  Last night, we stopped at my grandparents' in Ohio, and it usually takes us between 6 and 7 hours to get home from there.  I did it in less than 5.  Woohoo!

About an hour ago, I had a conversation with the husband that went something like this:

Him: You're wearing jeans.
Me: ...Yeah, I've been wearing them all day.
Him: Yeah, but you're wearing jeans.  You don't usually do that.  Jeans and a white shirt.
Me: I guess I usually wear more complicated things.
Him: Yeah, it's simple.  I like it.

So ladies, I've said it before, but I tend to forget, so I'll say it again.  Keep it simple to attract the men.

Day 25 of 30: Last Day of Vacation

Boo, I don't want to go back to work on Monday and then to the dentist. Why can't vacation last forevsies?

Recently, I decided that I need a new purse. All mine have been falling apart one by one, so I wanted a quality, real leather purse that will hopefully last me years and years and years. On the hiking expedition yesterday, I kept upping the amount I was willing to pay for said new purse, and it got up to $1,000. Haha. I didn't actually spend that much, but I did pick up this snazzy Michael Kors bag for $180. Yeah, pricey, but it was half off the original price. Isn't it puuurdy? I dig it.

Besides shopping, hubs and I took a little joy ride in his family's '77 MG Midget (teeny tiny car pictured behind me below). They recently replaced the transmission, so I didn't mind the shifting part, but the lack of power steering and power brakes definitely took some adjusting to on my part.

And tomorrow, very early, we begin our trek back home.

Day 24 of 30: I Just Hiked Up a Mountain

I wanted to throw an expletive in there, but I kept it clean for ya. Hiking up a mountain is not easy. It took us about four hours to get to the top and then back down, and for me, the hike down was almost as difficult as the hike up. But I did it!

I liken it almost to labor: would I do it again? Only if enough time passes that I forget how long and painful it was. And like labor, maybe I'd only do it again ONCE. I'm just kidding--having a baby hurts a lot more, but this was extremely tiring for someone as out of shape as I. Maybe I lost some lbs today at least.

When hubs took this picture, he told me to "look pissed," but it wasn't far off from my real feelings at the time.

The views were beautiful, though. I did enjoy the part when we were actually on the top of the mountain.  And hubs was more than willing to take outfit photos for me with the mountain and ocean in the background.

Day 23 of 30: Day at the Ocean

I did a good job slouching in this picture (not a skill I should be proud of). We're actually the same height when we both stand up straight.

This beach where we took a little walk was really rocky, and I was not prepared with the proper footwear at all.  Hubs wants to do some hiking tomorrow, so I'll have to bring along more practical shoes for that trip.  At any rate, I spent most of the walk looking like this:

Day 22 of 30: Wine Tasting and Shopping

I took this picture at 11:30 at the end of a fun but very sunny day, so as you can see, I look a little sleepy and definitely sunburt.

My day started off lounging by the lake again and getting within striking distance of the end of Harry Potter.  I forgot how good the last book is.  Nine days!  I got pretty hot in the hour or so I was sitting there, so I jumped in the lake for a minute, too.

Then, I headed to Winterport Winery, another one of our regular stops, with hubs, mom-in-law and sis-in-law.  I had actually only been there one other time, and it was when I was pregnant, so I enjoyed it more this time around.  We picked up a couple bottles to drive while here and shipped a case home.

Hubs parted ways, and the three of us ladies drove about an hour and a half or so down the road to Freeport for some outlet mall shopping.  I miss shopping!  I haven't had an actually shopping excursion in a really long time, so I had fun.  Unfortunately, we didn't realize how early stores closed, so we didn't get to do all the shopping we had potential for.  We did buy some fun stuff, though, including some clothes for Bridget (baby clothes are so easy to buy).

One of the stores we went in was this cool Maine-based hippie/bohemian clothing and accessories store called Mexicali Blues.  I must've spent 15 minutes just browsing through the bracelet section.  Mom bought sis a suuuuper cute maxi dress, and I finally decided on four bracelets.

Mom felt bad that I didn't find any clothes at Mexicali Blues, but then I spotted this perfectly nautical breton stripe shirt at LLBean, so she bought me that.  Score!

The plan for today is hitting another one of our regular wineries to stock up and then eating some lobster/seafood at aunt and uncle's home on the ocean. 

OK, hilarious anecdote.  Hubs just got out of the shower and it hit him that the bottle of shampoo he had been using for the last three days expired in 2006.  Bahahahaha.  So they probably bought it when he was 16.  It was funny.

Day 21 of 30: Fourth of July on the Lake

Bridget and I happened to be wearing matching outfits today, so we had to get a picture of that. 

It was warm and sunny today, so I got to take a dip in the lake, lay out and read Harry Potter, and enjoy some food on the grill.  Bridget didn't feel like napping with all the excitment going on, so she hung out with everyone outside in her pack n play.  We're hoping for another nice day today, and maybe we'll try putting Bridget in the water, too.

Day 20 of 30: To the Brewery We Go

Being in the car for 16 hours yesterday equaled me wearing yoga type pants and a t-shirt all day.

Today was a very nice first real day of vacation.  We hung out with family in the morning and then headed to one our regular stops to have dinner with some of the other side of the family.

I had hubby take this picture of Bridge and me by some Atlantic Brewing Company kegs by the building.  Besides the brewery, they have a BBQ outdoor restaurant that serves large quantities of meat with really tasty sides.  I hear their beer is good, but personally I looooove their blueberry soda.

Day 19 of 30: On the Road

Day 18 of 30: To Tuck or Not To Tuck

In the end, I decided I didn't really like either, so I went with partial tuck.  (You know, like Parseltongue, but not.  Sorry, nerdy Harry Potter joke--15 days!)

But now, I'm thinking I should re-tuck once again. Arg! This shirt seems to give me problems every time I wear it because it's kind of a weird length, and it's boxy. I should just stick to wearing it under things.  At least it's not inside out anymore...I didn't realize I put it on inside out until I pulled into the parking garage, which was after I went to Starbucks.  Ohhh wellll, coulda been worse!
