Lack of Good Rain Boots

I almost wore boots today, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It's the end of May. At least it wasn't too cold out. It's days like these when I wish I had brightly colored rain boots to get me from place to place, but I just don't think I would wear them often enough to justify buying Hunters, and I think the cheap ones are painful to walk in.

Skirt: Target; Top: New York & Company; Belt: from some random dress;
Cardigan: Calvin Klein via Goodwill; Shoes: C-Label

Anyway, my mood kind of matches the weather today, so I'm going to call this a post before I start complaining about something else.

  1. I'm going to disagree about the Hunters. I wear mine a ton! Year round! Granted, for winter, they aren't made for long hikes in the snow (zero warmth) but if I'm running to the grocery store or target or the mall on the weekend and I'm wearing leggings and my down coat, they are perfect. I don't get soaked from slush and snow but I don't feel like I'm clomping around like I do with regular winter boots. And in rainy weather like we have now, I LOVE knowing I can wear the, into work and change at the office and not worry about soaking my good shoes and feet. While they are pricey, I think the cost per wear is worth it. I bought glossy black and they go with everything. While I'd love a fun color, in the long run, I thought a basic color was a wiser choice. Watch for sales at Nordstrom and I even saw the tall ones go on sale at Madewell. I even sprung for short ones from a Madewell sale and got an extra % off, free ship, no sales tax, and ebates! I think they were like $40. Gilt also has Hunter sales but they go fast, but are such a good deal!!

    1. Works for me! I can see your point - I never really thought of them as being functional in the winter, but I could see how they would come in handy running errands. I love the look of the glossy ones, too...but I have no idea what color I would get!

    2. I wear mine all winter, just throw in some boot liners and you're good to go. I found the shorties on eBay (my calves don't fit into the regulars) for around $55 w/shipping. Even @ full price, I think they're worth it.

  2. This is such a great look. I love it. It's so pulled together with the purple in the skirt and your cardigan and so modern at the same time with the really great pattern on your skirt.

  3. It's impossible for me to find rain boots that fit my giant calves (honestly Hunters, just make a wide calf), so I feel your pain. I usually end up running across the parking lot at work barefoot. I laugh in the face of danger.

    I like this outfit though, you look cute whether or not you're standing in a torrential downpour :)

  4. I have a hard time justifying rain boots, too! They're cute and pretty, but even when I had a pair, I didn't wear them. I would love to find a cute pair of Hunters, but I'm not convinced that I'd wear them often enough, either.
    I really love the purples in this outfit! That skirt is so cute--it didn't fit me right, so I had to leave my Target without it, but it fits you perfectly!

  5. Such a pretty outfit - I love the purple! I've been on the fence about investing in a pair of Hunters myself. I am not entirely sure I'd be able to get my money's worth. A girl can dream though!
