Which Way to the Country Club?

Skirt: Target (Webster Miami); Belt: Forever 21; Shirt: NY&Co; Cardigan: Target; Shoes: Kohl's; Bracelets: Kate Spade and self-made

I was going for Sarah Vickers-esque New England preppy here. How'd I do? Between her and Bree Van de Kamp from Desperate Housewives (I'm about six episodes into Season 2, chugging along), I'm pretty inspired by the preppy looks lately. And now I've looked at the word preppy so long that I can't think of anything besides Zach Morris.

I much preferred this outfit with my lobster Crocs shown below, but A. I need to clean them, B. I still have a blister on my left heel from when I wore them on Sunday, and C. They're too casual for work anyway. My plan is to try throwing them in the washing machine. Has anyone ever washed canvas shoes that way? The other suggestion I read about is to soak them in warm water, then use mild detergent mixed with water and scrub with a toothbrush. I'd be willing to do that, but the washing machine sounds easier.

  1. I want that skirt. The length is perfect! I wish the skirt on the crossback dress was that long.

  2. I am thinking the scrub and soak approach will work better. I love a good preppy look...very great what you put together. I just bought that skirt and I cannot wait to style it up!

  3. I've tossed canvas shoes into the wash and they come out fine, but mine did shrink just a hair. They do loosen back up but if they're already tight it could be tricky. Meanwhile, I love the Vickersesque look!
