Impractical Mom Clothes

I bought this skirt in February 2010 at last year's ladies night shopping event that I attended with one of my friends, my mom, and my brother's wife (fiance at the time).  My mom thought I was crazy, but I was like, "Whatevs.  It's cute, and it'll be a fun skirt for summer."  Theeeeeeeeeen, I got pregnant a month later.

When my mom was over helping out with the house and the baby, she took the liberty of going through my closet and pulling clothes to pack away for summer or give to Goodwill.  I had to rescue this goofy thing from the Goodwill pile.  What I didn't realize when I bought it is it has this weird white built-in slip.  It doesn't really make sense.  The asymmetry kind of weirds me out, too.

It's probably the least practical skirt ever for being a mom, but I wanted it to at least see the light of day once.  So here it is for Wear It Wednesday: Short Skirt.  On Thursday.

I've actually only worn these shoes out once.  I bought them for a female Jolly Green Giant Halloween costume in '08.  They're not even crazy tall, but they are compared to the wimpy heels I usually wear.  Let's see if I can find a picture of that costume.

  1. Ha great costume! That's funny she put that in the goodwill pile - I could never let someone else do that for me! I love the color - it's so fun and summery!!

  2. I love the shoes and the skirt. Bright blue and bright yellow are one of my favorite color combinations. And that costume is fabulous.

  3. Haha thanks. That costume was a fun one to make and wear.

Rachel - Trust me, I was none too pleased when I couldn't find where she put a lot of my clothes for weeks after she left. I would find random stuff in my husband's dresser or shirts buried under pajama pants. It was frustrating.

  5. Hahaha, heels definitely do help with making the legs look decent. I am not a fan of my legs at all. Too bad I don't like wearing heels and being giant either.

  7. that's quite a costume. I'm not feeling the skirt either, mostly because of the white slip!! weird that they'd design it like that!

  8. Where did you get those shoes? I have been looking for a cute pair of summery wedges with a closed toe so that I can wear them to work.

I have mixed feelings about the skirt, but I think you could make it work.

  9. Payless!

I have mixed feelings about the skirt, too. I like the color and material, but that's about it.

  11. Thanks! If you or anyone else wants the skirt, it's yours. Hehe. As cute as it potentially could be, I don't know that I'll get much use out of it. And it would definitely fit someone smaller than me better because if there wasn't a crazy elastic waistband, this wouldn't have gone over my mom hips.
