Outfit Inspired by a Song

I've been looking forward to this FBFF for weeks. Unfortunately, although I have a favorite band and a lot of other bands I really like, I don't have a favorite song. I don't even have a favorite song from my favorite band. So when our hostess for the week adimpleate asked us to create an outfit based on a favorite song, I was at a loss. It's been like three weeks since we've gotten this topic, and I still hadn't come up with anything.

The next concert I'm seeing is Rock the Green with Ben Folds and The Fray (among others) coming up a week from Sunday, so I decided to go with one of their songs. I pretty much love everything about The Fray's first CD, How to Save a Life, but "Look After You" is probably my favorite song on the disc. (I included the lyrics at the bottom of this post.)

Since this is a love song and since it came out in 2006ish, I decided to try to recreate a look around the skirt I wore on my first date with my husband. (The only parts of this outfit I actually wore today were the ruffle tank and shoes--the rest is just for the sake of this post because I didn't want to miss out.)

OK, now I have to change again and get ready for the Fashion Night Party! Hopefully I'll have lots of fun pics to come of that tomorrow.

Look After You

If I don't say this now I will surely break
As I'm leaving the one I wanna take
Forgive the urgency but hurry up and wait
My heart has started to separate
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
Oh oh oh, oh oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
I'll look after you
There now, steady, love, so few come and don't go
Will you, won't you be the one I'll always know?
When I'm losing my control the city spins around
You're the only one who knows you slow it down
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
Oh oh oh, oh oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
I'll look after you and I'll look after you
If ever there was a doubt
My love, she leans into me
This most assuredly counts
She says 'most assuredly'
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
I'll look after you, after you
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
Oh oh oh, oh oh
It's always have and never hold
You've begun to feel like home, yeah
What's mine is yours to leave or take
What's mine is yours to make your own
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
Oh oh oh, oh oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
Oh oh oh, oh oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
Oh oh oh, oh oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, be my baby
Oh oh oh, oh oh

  1. Beautiful skirt. Is that a print or embroidered flower. Love your 2nd pose, the one with hand on your hair.
Thanks for participating this week visual FBFF.
